Parramasala 2013-2017
Parramasala wasn’t just another DJ hire. It was the moment when Sunny Bins went from servicing small-scale gigs to becoming part of a major cultural festival that celebrated diversity, community and sound in the heart of Sydney’s west. The hire was unusual (bins as sound platforms, decorated trucks, one with fire cannons ), but ultimately, it worked. We delivered a high-energy, inclusive experience that resonated with thousands of festival-goers, and aligned with Parramasala’s mission of cultural celebration.
Parramasala was a big boost for Sunny Bins from 2013-17, it was our biggest contact, from bin pushers playing music for various parade groups to decorative Pakistani style pimped out trucks.

Sunny Bins and Parramasala — Lighting Up the Streets of Western Sydney
From humble beginnings in hiring out a few bins, we stepped into something much larger: powering a huge multicultural street parade — employing crews, decorating carts, trucks and bins — this was a big one for the Sunny Bins team.
Between 2013 and 2017 we teamed up with friends like Tortuga Studios and Alien Proof Construction to help make it happen.
In 2017, Parrasala ran from 10–12 March across venues including Prince Alfred Square, Riverside Theatres and the Parramatta River foreshore.
Sunny Bins worked on the Friday evening street parade showcasing more than 36 cultures within the City of Parramatta community.
That year, the event attracted more than 45,000 attendees.
Organisers also reported that over 70% of attendees were born outside Australia and more than 30 nationalities/cultures were represented.
What Sunny Bins brought
- Solar-powered sound systems providing mobile, high-impact audio to the parade and surrounding outdoor events.
- Decorated carts, trucks and bins transformed into moving sound stations, adding visual flair as well as audio punch.
- Collaboration with Tortuga Studios and Alien Proof Construction to build structures, custom lighting rigs and mobile platforms.
- A community-first mindset: recognising the many voices and musical styles in Western Sydney, we embraced them rather than imposed our own format.
